Das ist ein Hammer! Diagonalangreiferin Krystal Rivers verlängert ihren Vertrag bei Allianz MTV Stuttgart um ein Jahr mit beidseitiger Option auf ein weiteres und wird damit auch in der kommenden Saison für den aktuellen deutschen Meister auf der Platte stehen.
Die 26-jährige Diagonalangreiferin aus Birmingham (USA) geht damit bereits in ihre vierte Saison in Stuttgart. Bereits seit ihrer ersten Spielzeit gehört die US-Amerikanerin zu den spielerisch herausragenden Akteuren in der Volleyball Bundesliga der Frauen. So war es auch nicht überraschend, dass sie mit ihrer athletischen und teilweise spektakulären Spielweise einen großen Anteil am ersten Meistertitel in der Vereinsgeschichte 2019 hatte. Als Tüpfelchen auf dem I wurde sie im Anschluss an die Saison 2018/19 auch als wertvollste Spielerin der Volleyball-Bundesliga ausgezeichnet.
Auch in der aktuellen Saison weisen die Statistiken der Volleyball Bundesliga Rivers als Topscorerin der Liga aus. Mit aktuell vier goldenen und einer silbernen MVP Medaille ist sie auch in diesem Ranking ganz oben zu finden.
Krystal Rivers: Als ich über die Unterschrift nachgedacht habe, gingen meine ersten Gedanken zu den Fans und Sponsoren, zu der großartigen Unterstützung, die wir genießen. Sogar in dieser Pandemie ohne Zuschauer in der SCHARRena haben wir die Unterstützung gespürt. Stuttgart fühlt sich für mich wie ein Zuhause an. All diese Dinge sind gerade im Hinblick auf die momentane Situation in der Welt sehr wichtig für mich. Die letzten Jahre hier in Stuttgart haben mir als Athlet so viel gebracht. Das ist hier auch in Zukunft ein sehr gutes Umfeld. Das Team, die Ziele die wir uns gesetzt und auch erreicht haben, ich bin mir sicher, da geht auch noch mehr. Wie ich sagte, ein Umfeld wo ich mich weiterentwickeln kann und in dem ich mich geborgen fühle, das war wichtig für mich. Wenn ich jetzt all diese Dinge zusammenführe und bedenke, dass Stuttgart mir all diese Dinge bieten kann, dann macht es nur Sinn zu bleiben. Ich bin ein Teil dieser Familie und dieses Clubs. Ich freue mich sehr darauf weiterzumachen!
Kim Renkema: Die Verlängerung mit Krystal Rivers ist natürlich überragend, zumal wir diese Vertragsverlängerung fast nicht mehr für möglich gehalten haben. Es ist ein gutes Signal für uns als Allianz MTV Stuttgart, dass wir eine Spielerin von solcher Qualität jetzt bald 4 Jahre in Stuttgart halten können. Krystal ist ein wichtiger Baustein mit ihrer Konstanz in unserem Team und spielt auch eine große Rolle in der Kaderplanung für die neue Saison. Ich freue mich auch für die Volleyball Bundesliga der Frauen, dass sie einen solchen Star in Deutschland in ihren Reihen hat und dass sich die Fans noch weiter an Krystal erfreuen können.
Aurel Irion: Wir sind sehr stolz, dass sich Krystal entschieden hat noch mindestens 1 Jahr in Stuttgart zu bleiben. Das ist besonders für uns als Allianz MTV Stuttgart aber auch für den Volleyballsport in Deutschland ein sehr positives Zeichen! Es zeigt, dass wir mit unserer Arbeit auf einem sehr guten Weg sind und das sich Krystal rundum sehr wohl in Stuttgart fühlt.

Krystal Rivers extends contract in Stuttgart
That's a hammer! Diagonal attacker Krystal Rivers has extended her contract with Allianz MTV Stuttgart by one year with a mutual option for another and will thus continue to play for the current German champion next season.
The 26-year-old diagonal attacker from Birmingham (USA) is now entering her fourth season in Stuttgart. Since her first season, the US-American has been one of the most outstanding players in the women's volleyball Bundesliga. So it was no surprise that she played a big part in the first championship title in the club's history in 2019 with her athletic and sometimes spectacular style of play. As icing on the cake, she was also named the most valuable player in the Volleyball Bundesliga following the 2018/19 season.
This season, Volleyball Bundesliga statistics continue to show Rivers as the league's top scorer. With currently four gold and one silver MVP medal, she is also at the top of this ranking.
Krystal Rivers: When I thought about signing, my first thoughts went to the fans and sponsors, to the great support we enjoy. Even in this pandemic without spectators in the SCHARRena, we felt the support. Stuttgart feels like home to me. All these things are very important for me, especially in view of the current situation in the world.
The last few years here in Stuttgart have brought me so much as an athlete. This is also a very good environment here in the future. The team, the goals we have set and achieved, I am sure there is more to come. As I said, an environment where I can develop further and where I feel safe, that was important for me. Now when I put all these things together and consider that Stuttgart can offer me all these things, then it only makes sense to stay. I am a part of this family and this club. I'm really looking forward to moving on!
Kim Renkema: The signing of Krystal Rivers is of course outstanding, especially since we almost didn't think this contract extension was possible. It is a good signal for us as Allianz MTV Stuttgart that we can keep a player of such quality in Stuttgart for 4 years. Krystal is an important building block with her consistency in our team and also plays a big role in the squad planning for the new season. I am also happy for the women's volleyball Bundesliga to have such a star in Germany in its ranks and that the fans can enjoy Krystal even more.
